Spring and Jogging

With spring here and more people jogging outside, what are some good stretches to do?

After a vigorous run, muscles will also be full of lactic acid. Stretching helps the blood flow to the muscles to remove the lactic acid, which improves recovery. Finally, stretching after a run helps to relax any muscles that may have gotten tight from exertion, and this can help to prevent pain and stiffness later.

Because exercise can shorten your muscles (lots of evidence base about this topic) skipping your post-activity stretch can decrease your mobility over time. Stretching keeps the muscles in the body flexible, so that they can stay at their fullest range of motion.

Use your foam roller after as much as possible!
